Blast From The Past: Back In The Era, How Did A Courier Service Work In The US?

International Delivery - DTDC USA

Wells Fargo primarily handled courier service in the US in the early years and is a banking company today. It is said that the company was considered as specialists in delivering packages, gold and newspapers throughout the US using their traditional stagecoach, which is defined as a covered wagon used to carry goods. Stagecoaches were traditionally four wheeled and pulled by horses or mules. They would cover an average of 70 to 80 miles in a day. Next came the Pony Express, which utilized a short route and used mounted riders instead of the traditional stagecoaches. This system established a faster mail delivery service between states and led to the idea of establishing a transcontinental delivery service that in turn developed into multiple courier services companies in the US. Courier services have additional attributes like speed, security, tracking and customization of services, irrespective of whether it is a parcel to India from USA, a courier to Europe from US, or a courier from USA to India or an express delivery or an international delivery.

Of course in today’s scenario where distances are no longer a major concern, shipping is simplified to an extent that all it requires is a few clicks of a button. International courier services or International parcel delivery services establishments in the USA transact with international shipping on a constant basis. All that is required of a courier company is to be able to provide good international shipping prices. Unlike pigeon mail, courier companies today are required to be well equipped with third party logistics, international logistics services and a well-balanced and coordinated logistics distribution system with fulfillment warehouse and sufficient trucking services, prepared to be able to transport a consignment to any part of the globe, in time. Since then to now, the international logistics services has come a long way and we can only see it growing with express delivery, international shipping and international delivery – there is so much more we can expect!
